What is an InterRail Pass?

The InterRail Pass has always been the perfect companion to anyone exploring Europe as it provides a fun and economical way to see all that Europe has to offer.

On selected shipping routes you often get a 50% discount in the normal ticket price.

High speed trains like the ICE or the TGV or sleepers can be used, but you have to pay supplements.

But except for these supplements there are no other costs.

Am I eligible for an InterRail Pass?

To qualify for an InterRail Pass, you must be normally resident in one of the participating European countries ie: Albania, Andorra, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark (including Faroer Islands but excluding Greenland), Eire, Estonia, Finland, FYR Macedonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russian Federation, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain (including Melilla, Ceuta and Canary Islands), Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom (including Gibraltar), Vatican City.

Residents of Russian Federation, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Algeria or Tunisia also qualify to buy an InterRail.

You must be resident in one of the aforementioned European countries for a period of at least 6 months immediately preceeding the first day of the validity of the pass.

Are there any additional costs?

On special trains, such as the high-speed trains, you have to pay a supplement.

Some normal Inter-City trains in Italy are considered high speed trains, and you may have to pay a supplement.

To travel by TGV in France, you only have to pay the reservation fee, which costs Approx. €5.

In some countries a supplement is required in the IC (InterCity) or EC (EuroCity), besides a small supplement in the high speed trains (TGV, ICE, Pendulino, Thalys, Eurostar, Cisalpino, AVE).

Child fares

Children under 12 years are entitled to a 50% discount off the Adult (over 26 years) InterRail pass price and Children under 4 years travel free.
